The Rangr Dangr map of Newcastle's CBD with two parking ranger pins, each casting a red wedge in its direction of travel, a hazard pin and a lost pet pin, plus a 'Broken glass ahead, 129 m away' alert.

Ranger near
your car?
You’ll know.

Tap “I parked here” when you leave the car. If anyone reports a ranger within your distance, your phone buzzes, even with Rangr Dangr closed.

  1. Park and pin it. One tap marks your spot, with an optional 2P timer.

  2. Neighbours spot the ranger. Someone two streets over drops a sighting.

  3. You get the heads-up. How far away, and which way they’re heading.

Hunter StNewcastle 2300How it works

Three taps.
Whole street warned.

Built for the footpath, not the dashboard. Reporting takes seconds, and neighbours keep every pin honest.

  1. Spot it, double-tap it.

Double-tap the map exactly where you saw it, or hit the red Report button. No addresses, no forms.

  2. Say what, and which way.

Ranger on foot or in a car. A crash, broken glass, a blocked path, a lost kelpie. For rangers, tap the way they’re heading.

  3. Neighbours keep it honest.

Still there renews a sighting. Enough Not there votes clear it. Ranger pins fade after 20 minutes, so the map is always now.

The 'What do you see?' picker with Ranger, Incident, Hazard, Theft or suspicious, Lost pet, Found item and Emergency help.
Pick what you saw. It lands exactly where you tapped.

Which way are
they heading?

A pin tells you where a ranger was. Rangr Dangr tells you where they’re going, from where you’re standing.

  • A wedge on the map. Every ranger with a known heading casts a red wedge the way they’re moving. It fades as the sighting ages.
  • Towards you, or away? Using your location or alert area, the app says “Heading towards you”, “Moving away” or “Passing across”.
  • Anyone can update it. Seen them turn onto Bolton St? Tap the new direction. The latest update wins.

“I parked here.”

Drop a pin on your car and get pinged the moment a ranger is reported nearby. You choose how close counts, from 50 m to 1 km.

Parking timer. A nudge 10 minutes before your 2P runs out, and again when it does.

Watch zones

Home in Merewether, work in the CBD, Mum in Lambton. Pin up to ten places by postcode, suburb or map, each with its own radius.

Ranger risk map

Every sighting teaches the map. Over time it shades the streets and hours rangers favour, and shows where they tend to go next.

It says “learning” until there’s enough data to be useful. No guesses dressed up as facts.

Fine log

Keep a private record of every ticket. Snap a photo and the amount, offence and time fill themselves in.

Official warnings

Bushfire, flood and road warnings on the same map, from NSW RFS, NSW SES, Live Traffic NSW, VicEmergency, Queensland and TasALERT.

Fuel, weather, air

Cheapest fuel nearby, the next few hours of weather before the southerly hits, and the closest air quality reading.

The useful stuff

School zones with an “active now” heads-up, speed and red-light cameras, public toilets, drinking water, EV chargers, dog parks and defibrillators.

Church StNewcastle 2300Community rules

Report what,
not who.

Rangr Dangr shares moments in time about places, not people. That’s what keeps it useful, and keeps it fair.

  • 1

No names, photos or plates. Ever. Reports are about a spot on the map.

  • 2

Describe actions, not appearance. “Trying car doors”, not what someone looks like.

  • 3

Never confront anyone. Rangers are doing their job. Give them room.

  • 4

Three flags hide a report. Misleading or nasty posts don’t last.

  • 5

Not a live tracker. Every sighting expires. Ranger pins clear in 20 minutes.

  • 6

Independent. Not affiliated with any council or government.

Danger right now? Call 000. Police assistance line: 131 444. Rangr Dangr does not contact emergency services.
